Every pattern—from the softest braid to the most intricate weave—comes from just two basic moves. By changing only the order of these two moves, you can create the four essential knots: W, M, B, and T knot.

This is the method behind all loommii tutorials—simple, intuitive, and deeply satisfying to learn.

Only two things to remember:

  • Base Line: the line that stays still
  • Working Line: the line that moves and makes the knot

The base line always passes through the center of the knot, and the working line always wraps around the base line.

W Knot

Two bottom pulls → one W knotTip:

Tip: Think of “W” as two arrows pointing downward — bottom pull, bottom pull.

M Knot

Two top pulls → one M knot

Tip: Think of “M” as two arrows pointing upward — top pull, top pull.

B Knot

Bottom pull first, then top pull →one B knot

Tip: Think of “B” as “Bottom first” — bottom pull, then top pull.

T Knot

Top pull first, then bottom pull →one T knot

Tip: Think of “T” as “Top first” — top pull, then bottom pull.
